Blogs are easy…
Blogs are easy…
At least, they are easy from an anonymous running standpoint. It’s a little more tricky to get them earning.
I don’t have to tell you how to create an anonymous blog. It’s easy to not show your identity when it comes to blogging. You can combine the power of your avatar, your logo, and consistent value-driven content to create a powerhouse of an anonymous blog. However…
In this day and age, the internet is starting to feel more and more consolidated. Think about your daily adventures on the internet. If you are like many people, it only consists of a handful of sites. Probably less than 20.
So people are pooling together in the same areas online. If you are going to be building a blog, it’s important to remember that people aren’t going to be spending a lot of time hanging out there. So it’s smart to make sure you have a distribution strategy in place for your written content.
First, I suggest making the platform Substack(dot)com a part of your distribution strategy. Think of Substack as sort of like YouTube for the written word, and it even has a built-in monetization mechanism.
Another thing that I would consider when it comes to distribution is using a tool like Descript(dot)com to convert your written word into audio and video that you can distribute on YouTube and as a podcast. Descript will actually let you read from a script and teach artificial intelligence how to speak just like you.
It can be a little creepy, to be honest, but it works extremely well.
A third thing to consider is that Facebook is the third most popular website in the world. To share your content here only makes sense. Consider joining some Facebook groups that are niche related and sharing your content in these groups.
I wouldn’t just share a link. I would share a good piece of information there and a simply written pitch to check out your blog for more great information.
All of these strategies can be used to drive traffic back to your original blog and ideally, put people onto your email list, where you can follow up with them one on one and sell much easier.
Speaking of email, when it comes to remaining anonymous by email, it’s not uncommon for people to use a pen name. Especially when they are operating out of multiple niches and don’t want to confuse people.
There is no reason you cannot follow in their footsteps. The main thing here is to be very consistent with your avatar, your logo, your business name, and if you choose to use one, your pen name.
Here is a simple checklist of things to consider when starting a blog that you intend to be anonymous:
One) Using Whois Privacy
Two) Using a Pseudonym
Three) Use an Anonymous Blogging Platform
Four) Hide Your IP Address (VPN)
Five) Moderate Blog Comments (for malicious intent)
Six) Use an Anonymous Email Account
Seven) Limit Inclusion of Personal Information
I am sure that many people out there feel like the written word is dying and video is replacing it, however, let me show you some stats according to a Hubspot Survey ran just a few years ago. They asked the question:
“When it comes to content, what do you closely pay attention to, and what are you less attentive to?”
The following were the top four most closely paid attention to forms of content.
One) Video Content consumed - 55 percent
Two) Social media posts consumed - 52 percent
Three) News articles consumed - 49 percent
Four) Research content consumed - 47 percent
So you can see, while video IS the most popular form of content consumed, people still pay very close attention to the written word. Something to think about.
Next time, I have an important question to ask you. So be sure to look out for that, but for now let‘s wrap this one up.
Until Next Time
